So Many Questions, So Few Answers

I am observing the evolving situation here on the bridge of the Sovereign and I find myself weighed down with questions--and no good answers to the issues that plague my mind.

FIRST: the Saucer Section of the USS Eclipse has been located and Tholian ships are nearby but they have failed to contain it in any way. From a strategic point alone this seems--odd... Why is this prize not more heavily guarded? Honestly, I find myself surprised the Saucer Section hasn't been towed somewhere and taken apart piece by piece so the Tholians could have a full understanding of our technological capabilities yet there it sits waiting for us to tow it away.

SECOND: some of the crew has been removed to another location but there are still personnel aboard the Eclipse--among those is the ship's commanding officer Admiral Barks. Why would the Tholians not take him into custody? A prize like that would be an excellent negotiating tool against the Federation yet there he is. And while I am asking questions--why did a ships commanding officer allow his crew to be removed? Again, this makes absolutely no sense to me from a strategic point.

THIRD: there are seven Tholian ships near hear but, at least so far, they have made no move to prevent the Sovereign. Why not? The Tholians are a hive-mind species: did we encounter a group of rogues? Is that even possible with the Tholians? Ah well--just another question for a latter day.

All I can say for certain is that were I still in the Judge Advocate General's Office I would have quite a few questions for Admiral Barks and the people who ordered this fool's errand. Still, I can't escape the feeling that any questions I have will remain unanswered. I guess life really is different out in the field...
