The bond strengthens

Posted on Wed Apr 15th, 2020 @ 6:36pm by Lieutenant Cahban "Kevan" Doolin & Lieutenant Junior Grade Billi

Mission: USS ECLIPSE - NEW MEMBER
Location: Ten Forward
Timeline: current/somewhere in between

ON:

As usual, Billi and Kevan Doolin had decided to hang out together as per usual. Both wore MACO fatigue pants with the standard issue combat boots, with both sporting black tank tops. Of course, the tank tops were form fitting, showing off both of their upper bodies quite well, as well as their athleticism. They were laughing, joking and carrying on as they entered Ten Forward, the place bustling once more as they were now on a survey mission and the crew was more relaxed. Doolin was pretty sure that Billi chose her tank top one size too small, for the added tease. But, at least the rest of her was covered this time. Seeing her hair done up in Dutch braids was kinda sexy, but he shook that thought off as quickly as it came.

After mingling for a good twenty minutes, both of them making their social rounds, they met back up at the end of the bar so they had their own corner and a wall to lean against. And, the Juke was over here. As they had made their rounds among friends and colleagues both were asked a few times if they were going to sing tonight, and both gave a 'maybe' in response, with a grin, of course.

Billi took the high-backed stool, the only one open at this end of the bar and turned halfway to give Doolin and the bar an equal portion of attention. She had already gathered all her things from Chris's quarters, all her belongings she had had stored there were now back at her place. Sure, she was back in junior officer quarters, a cabin of her own with a shared bathroom that had facilities for both officers, but they had to mingle on occasion while getting dressed for work, or whetever. The good looking ensign who lived next door was getting used to seeing a bit more green skin, day-by-day, but he never batted an eyelash at it. Getting herself a Saurian brandy, neat, Billi then got Kevan a double Jameson's, on the rocks with light ice. Once the drinks were in hand she clanked them together. "To the after-shifter. Cheers."

Doolin raised his glass slightly at the toast, then bounced the bottom of it off the bartop as she said cheers. He sipped since it was a sipping moment, not a shot. "If not for the booze my genetic code would start ta break down. How you comin' on that whole investigation?"

"Still searching," said Billi, really not in the mood to discuss work. Her eyes danced over the crowd in the lounge as they sought..something interesting. She figured when it showed up she would know. "Not much to tell, really."

"Mebbe I should take a gander," offered Kevan. "Fresh eyes and outlook, all that."

Billi was half listening, her mind seemingly distracted as she continued to glance around casually. "Wow, they moved furniture around to provide for a small dance area. I bet there's a holo emitter there, to make a wooden floor."

Deciding to go along with her scattered mind, Kevan slipped casually into conversation with her, looking over at the dance area, a grin forming as he looked back at her. "Good guess. I put the ruddy ting in a few days ago."

Billi abruptly stood up and went to the jukebox, looking at the selections, especially those under the header of club music. Heavy beats, twerkable rhythms, something to give people a positive uplift, and upbeat tunes. She found one and tapped the keys to activate it, turning the volume up a smidge for the whole room.

"Mind"
(feat. Kai)

{OA: Jack U}

You love how you push me to the point of crazy
And I love when you're on your knees and begging for me
You got me good with all these mind games
There you go, you got my heart again

Say my name, I wanna hear you call
Hold me close, I wanna feel your heart
I'm in a cold sweat and I want you bad
Now you got me all in my head, like damn

I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again
I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again
I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again
I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again

Say my name, I wanna hear you call
Hold me close, I wanna feel your heart
I'm in a cold sweat and I want you bad
Now you got me all in my head, like damn

I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again
I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again
I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again
I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again

I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again
I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again
I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again
I'mma show you how, show you how, show you how to love again

As the song began to play Billi gave a lascivious smile and came back over to Kevan, her Orion swagger in full bloom as she spun around and placed her back against the front of his body, her hips starting to sway more and more with the rhythm and beat. "Ohh, this is much better." She felt his hips begin to sway with hers, ever so slightly. She gave his crotch a booty bump. "It's okay, I won't break." The tone of her voice was pleasantly husky, yet soft with a bit of rasp.

"You may not break but I may pop," replied Doolin, jokingly. "Come on, dancefloor, otherwise I'll be explaining until the end of time why I be dancin' with the Admiral's girl." He took her arm gently but firmly and led-dragged her to the dance area, which was now the holo-wood floor. Kevan was afraid of that, as soon as they got back out on the floor she backed that rear end right up to his loading dock.

"I'm not his girl anymore," said Billi, casually and plain as day as she did a snaky, languid dance move with her arms intertwined above her head, making the eyes pop out in a few young ensigns standing along the bar. She would turn her head to speak over her shoulder, then go back to teasing and winking at the young men. "I'm taking a break. He's always too busy for...other things."

Taking her by the back of her shoulders Kevan turned Billi around gently, doing a casual couples dance with his hands around her waist, properly. Nothing overt. After a couple of dance tunes were out, and the two of them got comfy with where they were mentally, Kevan then suggested a few songs to belt out. "You obviously need to say something..to someone..somewhere. Come on."

As the juke music kept playing various choices, Billi and kevan went and set up another performance where he raps and rhymes while she sang, and her choice was, to say the least, pretty on the mark with her feelings these days. Doolin covered the G-EAzy parts, and as the song went on more bodies crowded onto the dancefloor, with more room being made.

"You Don't Own Me"
(feat. G-Eazy)

{OA: Grace}

You don't own me
You don't own me

[G-Eazy:]
Well, let's go
But I'm Gerald and I can always have just what I want
She's that baddest I would love to flaunt
Take her shopping, you know Yves Saint Laurent
But nope, she ain't with it though
All because she got her own dough
Boss bossed if you don't know
She could never ever be a broke hoe

You don't own me
I'm not just one of your many toys
You don't own me
Don't say I can't go with other boys

Don't tell me what to do
And don't tell me what to say
Please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display

You don't own me
Don't try to change me in any way
You don't own me
Don't tie me down cause I'd never stay

Don't tell me what to do
And don't tell me what to say
Please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display

[G-Eazy:]
Re-really though, honestly
I get bored of basic (No)
She's the baddest, straight up vicious, texting her asking her
If she's alone and if she'd sent some pictures, she said no (what)
Well goddamn, she said come over and see it for yourself
Never asking for your help, independent woman
She ain't for the shelf
Nah, she's the one
Smoke with her till the (Ahh)
Stayin' up until we see the sun
Baddest ever, I swear she do it better than I've ever seen it done
Never borrow, she ain't ever loan
That's when she told me she ain't never ever ever ever gonna be owned

I don't tell you what to say
I don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you
I'm young and I love to be young
And I'm free and I love to be free
To live my life the way I want
To say and do whatever I please

Huh! Hey!
Ohh-oh noo
Ohh Noo no-oh
Hell No no no-ooh
Don't, you don't
Hey!
(You don't own me)
But just know (nah), you never met somebody like me before tho
(Nah nah nah nah nah nah)
(You don't own me)
Easy.

You don't own me

That seemed to brighten Billi's spirits as she ended with a sexy grin at the crowd. "I feel so...yummy." Giggles could be heard throughout the room, and smiles were to be had in every corner.

Having sang how she felt, Kevan felt it was his turn to explain how shattered his spirit was. Getting Billi to step aside he then grabbed a hand mic and the lights dimmed, Billi doing so due to song choice, leaving a cone of soft white light cascading down over Kevan.

~Sing it, my friend~ she thought.

"This one's for Sarah." Doolin felt the twinge of sorrow, still mourning, as he began to sing.

"Torn To Pieces"

{OA: Pop Evil}

Here I sit all alone like an airplane
On the edge of a sky full of solid gray
Staring at the ceiling, tell me that I'm dreaming
Oh, I wish you were here today
All these days that I know I'll never get back
All the words that I always wish you would've said
All these dreams that we had now fade to black
Try to wash it away

I'm torn to pieces, I'm broken down
I still see your face when you're not around
I sit here in misery wondering if I'll ever be
Half the man you wanted me to be

Here I float through the air like a waterfall
Then I sink to the bottom like a cannonball
Having trouble breathing, suddenly I'm screaming,
"Why wasn't I good enough?"
Even though I know you're not gonna come back
I can't wash it away

I'm torn to pieces, I'm broken down
I still see your face when you're not around
I sit here in misery wondering if I'll ever be
Half the man you wanted me to be

I'm torn to pieces, I'm broken down
I still see your face when you're not around
I sit here in misery wondering if I'll ever be
Half the man you wanted me to be

It's tearing me to pieces
Tearing me to pieces
It's tearing me to pieces
Tearing me to pieces

Even though I know you're not coming back
I can't wash it away

I'm torn to pieces, I'm broken down
I still see your face when you're not around
I sit here in misery wondering if I'll ever be
Half the man you wanted me to be

I'm torn to pieces, I'm broken down
(I'm torn to pieces)
I still see your face when you're not around
(I'm torn to pieces)
I sit here in misery wondering if I'll ever be
Half the man you wanted me to be

The applause was full, yet subdued, even as couples had danced to it. They now felt Kevan's loss with a little more understanding. As he got another drink Kevan received handshakes and pats on the back.

Billi, after they all gave their condolences again through the minor actions, she got bubbley and wanted to lift the room up again. "So, what now?" She asked through her own mic.

If they were into duets, no matter the genre, then those familiar with early Earth music shouted out several, but none appealed. That's when a knowing grin crossed Kevan's face and he leaned in and whispered in Billi's ear.

"Done!" She said excitedly, giving him a peck on the lips as she wriggled her way through the crowd and got back on stage. "Alright, one more for me and my singing partner, then it's open mic night, woot!" Doolin joined her, both opf them ready to prance around and perform while singing, and with his Irish brogue then his singing would sound Jamaican.

"Music Is Life"
(feat. Ras Fraser Jr.)

{OA: Elliphant}

[Ras Fraser Jr.:]
Music is life, life, life, life
Come again

E-e-elliphant
Holla at me hater Imma holla back
See me cut a dread in a disco track
Beer's on ice, soon as I'm home
Roll up a shrink now my beer is cold

Gotta keep grooving gotta groove for life
Rhythm is me window it's me hope it's me life
I gotta stay true yo, visitors free
I better hold on now, this time is me
And my man Ras G
If he cook a rock serve a melody

[Hook - Elliphant & Ras Fraser Jr.:]
Hey yo yo, gotta keep movin' and groovin'
For life, for life
Hey yo yo, this type of music keep me groovin'
For life, for life
Music is life

[Elliphant & Ras Fraser Jr.:]
Another day another dollar said
Waking up waking out wanna fly away
Who are you baby I never saw you bro
You're like a brush in my eyes
N-n-now Ras
Good vibes the people them want
Play the music ah tell me of Jah
From Jamaica to Sweden to France
People all jump and prance
It's source of life
Take heed from the word of the wise
When I'm down and out and I need some strength
Music can keep me alive

[Hook]

[Ras Fraser Jr. & Elliphant:]
Feel no pain
Blood run through my veins
Feel so good in my neighborhood
Breathe in breathe out and feel the love G
You may be poor but music is free
A shitty day but then you press play
Music will take you away

[Hook x2]

You gotta keep moving boy
You gotta keep moving girl
You gotta keep moving on
You gotta keep moving on
You gotta keep moving boy
You gotta keep moving girl
You gotta keep moving on
You gotta keep moving on, moving on, move

Once they had finished, that slight kiss still on Kevan's mind as he followed Billi back to the bar to finish and have more drinks, they stood in the small foyer area in front of the jukebox. Fresh drinks were in hand, both going for the Risan Sunrise. "I think we should get a pay raise since we keep improving morale." He chuckled.

Billi gave a smile and giggle. "Nah. I do it for the fun of it, not for profit. Well, at least as long as I am in Starfleet, I should say."

They continued to hang out in the lounge, talking about anything that came to mind and just spending time with that one other person who seemed to understand them.
